Extra Credit, and wet socks
No one likes wet socks, absolutely the worst thing ever, right?
This morning I had an opportunity to earn extra credit in both of my Packaging classes by attending a field trip to MSU’s Surplus store and recycling center. I have to admit, it’s pretty cool how “green” this university is, and there was a lot of cool things I didn’t know went on at State, however…
The journey to the field trip was not a fun one. It’s about a 40 minute walk from my house, which isn’t bad, because let’s be honest — I could use the exercise. I woke my happy ass up at 7:05. Set my alarm to go off at 7:23 am, to get an additional 18 minutes of rest. Went through my rushed morning routine — got dressed, brushed my teeth…keys, wallet, cell phone, money — check. Walked out the front door, and it was raining.
Shit, I hate when I have to walk in the rain, I don’t own a raincoat nor do I own an umbrella. I had my old sneakers on, which are so worn that the soles are nearly down to nothing. Within 3 minutes not only were my socks wet, they were soaked. I could have rung them out and filled up a 5 gallon bucket. Not only were they soaking wet, my feet were now freezing…Not the ideal way to start of a day.
I went through the tour of the Surplus store, got to sit temporarily for a short film, and then had to make the journey back to my house, again in the rain — the upside being, my socks couldn’t get any more wet.
On some days when I walk home from class, traffic on Grand River is treacherous and it takes me a while to find an opportunity to cross….Today was one of those days. Fortunately for me, I was hungry, and was passing McDonald’s. So I treated to myself to a little McDonald’s breakfast — It had been a while since I’ve had the privilege experiencing one of Mickey D’s prestigious breakfast’s…Which made it that much more enjoyable.
Happy Thanksgiving!
